A gutter vacuum is a powerful suction unit with a hose and a set of telescopic poles. The operator works at ground level and draws leaves, moss and silt out of the gutter. Because the debris goes into the unit, it does not land on paths, plants or windows.
Washing or blowing is different. It can push dirt into the downpipe, so the outlet blocks again within weeks. Vacuum cleaning avoids that problem, because the material leaves the gutter altogether. In addition, the operator can check the run for cracks and loose joints as they go.
